Agape: This Sunday and Upcoming Events.

Hello all!

I hope that you are all healthy and recovering from illness! (We had nearly 30 folks out with sickness this past Sunday, including 4 in my family)

This Sunday, we are launching into a new and exciting four part series called, “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”. The focus will be on the importance of the arrival of Jesus the savior and messiah - Immanuel - God becoming flesh and living and walking among all of humanity. This will be an extended look at the coming of Jesus, and will go way beyond merely talking about the “true meaning of Christmas”. In addition, we will be celebrating the baptism of Jessica Street, as well as the dedication of several of her children, worshiping the living God, and enjoying breakfast and fellowship with each other. Come join us - we start at 10:00am!

There are lots of special events going on in December, and I have listed them below under upcoming events. I will call your attention to a couple of them: Note that we are having a Genesis Christmas gathering this Sunday night at 6pm, and this will likely be our last official Genesis meeting of the year. We will be singing Jesus focused Christmas songs, fellowshipping, eating together, and discussing God’s call for Agape in 2011. Bring food to share if you can, and meet at our house at 6pm. All are invited to Genesis! Also note that we are having a brief family meeting after church next Sunday, December 12 to pass out our 2010 budget, and how many has been spent and to answer any financial question you might have. Finally, notice that on Sunday, December 19, we will be celebrating Christmas - Agape style! (note: that is the corniest sentence I have typed in all of 2010) What does that mean? We will begin at 10:00am with a covered dish breakfast (that means bring some yummy breakfast food from home - enough to share!), launch into a special time of worship and celebration of the coming of Jesus, listen to a special message, and then fellowship together. We will be doing food pantry that day, and inviting our food pantry friends to worship with us. I would like to ask you to invite your friends to come join us also!

  • Sunday, December 5 6pm: Genesis Christmas gathering!
  • Wednesday, December 8: Gospel in Community Part 7 Wednesday Night Bible Study, 7pm.
  • Sunday, December 12:Come Thou Long Expected Jesus part 2 - David McConnell Preaching. Family Meeting with budget info 2010 presented afterwards.
  • Wednesday, December 15: Gospel in Community Part 8, Wednesday Night Bible Study, 7pm.
  • Friday, December 17: Staff and Deacons Christmas party 7pm at Agape. Covered Dish, games, Christmas songs and fun!
  • Sunday, December 19: Agape Christmas Celebration: Food Pantry, Christmas covered dish breakfast. Brief membership class after church. Genesis not meeting on this night.
  • Wednesday, December 22: No Wednesday Night Bible Study in the sanctuary. Youth Group still meeting.
  • Sunday, December 26: Cinnamon Roll breakfast - Christmas communion. Come Thou Long Expected Jesus series finale.
  • Sunday, January 2: Message: Vision 2011 part 1.
  • Sunday, January 9: Message: Vision 2011 Part 2. Family Meeting and 2011 Budget voting. .
  • Sunday, January 16: Joint Sunday morning service with Living Word Church @Agape - Our worship team leading, Bo Johnson preaching. Beginning time approximately 10:20 or so. Light fruit and coffee for breakfast.
  • Sunday, January 23: Beginning of new series (16 week?) on 1st Timothy.
  • Sunday, February 6: Super Bowl party and food pantry drive (tentative)
  • Sunday, February 20: Joint Service part 2 - Agape to join Living Word church - I will be preaching there, and their worship team will be leading worship.
