Agape Newsletter, February 27, 2009: New Series Sunday, Parents Meeting, and Snow Plans
Here’s what’s on tap for this week:
6. David’s article on the name of Jesus: www.Pinsonchurch.com/blog
Cindy needs help for Angel food tomorrow morning! Here’s how: Anyone who can help with angel food tomorrow please be at New Generation at 8:15am. If you need directions let me know. If you know someone who would help please forward this to them. If you ordered food pick up between 9:30-10:30 If you don’t know how to get to New Generation, you can email Cindy (cindynunderwood@charter.net), but the church is quite easy to find - it’s straight up Highway 79, passed Agape, in Trafford.
This Sunday we are launching into an important new series of teaching at Agape. The series will focus on Spiritual Gifts - those supernatural abilities or talents that God has given to every member of the Body of Christ. This Sunday will be an encouragement to be a light in the world, as Jesus said to let our light shine before all people. How do we do this, and what difference does it make? Those are some of the questions that we will be answering this Sunday. Over the next few weeks, we will go deeper into the Spiritual Gifts, and explore what the Bible says about each one. We’ll look at some of the seemingly mundane gifts like service, helps and craftsmanship(which aren’t actually mundane or boring at all!). We’ll also look at the very controversial gifts like tongues, healing, miracles and discerning of Spirits. My hope is the series will be interesting and edifying, but beyond that, that it will help equip us at Agape in walking out our calling and destiny, being a light to the world, and ministering to people in supernatural power! The message Sunday will be an introduction to this series, as stated above, and it will be slightly shortened to make room for our parents meeting.
Speaking of the parents meeting, I want to invite and urge all parents, and anybody interested in working with our precious children to come and meet with us. The meeting will take place immediately after our morning gathering, and it is my plan, as stated above, to make the message shorter than normal in order to make room for our meeting. This is a very important meeting, that all parents of kids from infancy up until 6th grade need to come. We will try to have the meeting as short as possible, but we do have several very important things to discuss with parents and interested parties.
Did you notice the word “snow” in the title of this message? I mention it because some forecasters are saying that it is possible that we might have some snow on the ground by Sunday morning. Chances don’t look very high right now that we will have any issues, and I’ll be surprised to even see a snowflake, but if we do, here is the contingency plan: If there is a significant enough snow that we will need to cancel our normal Sunday meeting, we will send the word out to you in the following ways: 1. Via email. 2. Via an announcement on our blog: www.pinsonchurch.com/blog 3. Via an announcement on ABC 33/40 and Fox 6 news. 4. Via an announcement on WDJC 93.7 FM. If in doubt, check your email Sunday morning. You can also text me at: 568-6836.
If you are a member of our home school covering Agape Academy, we are having a dessert and games fellowship tonight at Agape. The fun begins at 6:30, and goes until 9:30.
